Fried Green Tomatoes

  • 2 large green tomatoes
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¾ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup corn meal
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
Dipping Sauce
  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ground horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons fresh chopped chive, for garnish
  1. Cut tomatoes into ¼ inch slices.
  2. Set breading station, using three bowls. First place flour in a bowl add in salt, pepper and paprika. In the second bowl, add beaten eggs and milk. Mix well.
  3. In the last bowl, combine the panko and corn meal.
  4. Dredge tomato in flour, then the egg wash and then the panko corn meal mixture.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in large pan.
  6. Place breaded tomatoes in hot oil and cook until brown; about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Dipping sauce
  1. In a bowl, mix together mayo, fresh ground horseradish, ground mustard, kosher salt, lemon juice and worcestershire sauce.
  2. Top sauce with chopped chive
  3. Serve alongside tomatoes
  4. Enjoy :)
